The students are thrilled with the new additions, such as the telephone, dolls, and vet station! The students have had a great time using their imagination and playing with all the new items. I particularly love the shelf to organize and store all the items for the kids to use when they are playing. \r\nDramatic play items are becoming harder to find in kindergarten, as time does not allow for free play. I've made it my mission to try to incorporate this important part of learning into our day at least a few times a week. Writing ideas such as shopping lists and vet orders, communication opportunities such as kitchen and phone, and imagination-free play are all great ways for students to learn as they play! One of the tools we've used is a book we read together, along with the Spot stuffed animals, which have helped us recognize and understand the different emotions we might be feeling.\r\nFrom day one, these resources have made a big impact. Students use the classroom mirror to look at their facial expressions and compare them to the Spot characters to help identify how they're feeling. It's been a powerful and engaging way for them to build emotional awareness.\r\nWe're still waiting for our new rug—unfortunately, the first one was lost in transit.
