My kindergarteners need engaging books on their level to begin reading successfully. It is often hard to find interesting books with some kind of story line on such a simple level, so my class library does not have many. My students will use these books during independent reading time, during one on one practice with me, and take them home for homework. These leveled book sets will give my students the opportunities to choose books that they enjoy without getting frustrated by their difficulty. When students have choices and books that interest them on their level, they will be more likely to enjoy reading. The more they enjoy it, the easier it is for them to become better readers.
