My students are primarily students of parents who are in the military. Mom / Dad (and sometimes both) are deployed part of the year. School can sometimes be the only stable place in their lives. I work at a fabulous school full of teachers who have a great passion for teaching. Funding has been cut in our state (NC) tremendously this year. There is no money to help teachers with their projects.
