My previous carpet was old, faded, dirty and stained. It was hard to sit and play with the children on when you knew everything that it has been through. \r\n\r\nMy young scholars spend so much time on the carpet, from large group, book time, playing during choice time, read aloud and quiet time. I am thrilled that they have a clean welcoming carpet to play and work on throughout the day. Like the title of my project says, magic happens on the carpet, from block play building a variety of structures and read aloud where the children are taken to imaginary places. \r\n\r\nEvery morning when I walk into my classroom, my eyes go to the new carpet and it makes me smile. This set of books is even MORE exciting because it allowed me to create a whole new section in our library--early graphic novels for our beginning readers! While we love a good easy reader like Elephant and Piggie or Dr. Seuss, these graphic novels are filling a gap that our youngest learners were really in need of. We now have a section that I'm calling \"The Island\" for our 1st and 2nd graders with our first chapter books and these early graphic novels. We have had school for 3 days,, and already these graphic novels are flying of the shelves. You can see a group of my 2nd grade girls who could not WAIT to do book checkout and get started reading right away. You did this and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and completely humbled. And class sets of novels have been fixed up and reinforced their binding and delivered to classes. What a true gift to have the tools needed to make all of this happen! While the students may not notice most of this work, the book bin reorganization is already a big hit!
