Their faces lit up when they saw the variety of healthy snacks waiting for them. It made them feel seen and supported, knowing that someone cared enough to contribute to their success. For many, it was a boost of motivation that helped them push through the more challenging parts of training.\r\n\r\nNow that the 5K is behind them, the girls are reflecting on their growth—physically, emotionally, and socially. With the Orton-Gillingham Decodable Readers, The Science of Reading Decodable Books, DOG ON A LOG books, dyslexia-friendly handwriting paper, and dyslexia tools like reading strips and overlays, we have been able to introduce crucial skills that build strong, independent readers.\r\n\r\nHere's what these materials have made possible:\r\n\r\nFoundational Skills Development:\r\nStudents are practicing blending sounds, decoding words, and mastering tricky ending blends and digraphs — all critical skills for becoming fluent readers.\r\n\r\nSystematic Learning:\r\nThe decodable books allow children to apply the phonics skills they've just learned immediately in real reading situations, which strengthens both their confidence and accuracy.\r\n\r\nSupport for All Learners:\r\nThe dyslexia handwriting paper and guided reading strips help students who struggle with tracking, spatial organization, and letter formation, making reading and writing much less stressful and much more joyful. Reading in our classroom looks like a vibrant, interactive experience! Students sit together during small group instruction. We read aloud, we whisper-read to ourselves, we partner-read, and everywhere you look, you see children engaged, smiling, and proud of their progress.
