Do I really know what the impact is? Probably not. To be clear, this topic has been discussed on many occasions with my principal. We know what we do in the classroom and we know the importance we put on the subject or the skill, but the headache comes when we think about the follow-up. \r\n\r\nOnce the student is out of the class and the school, will our lessons be continued in private life, middle school, or high school? Sadly, in most cases, the answer is a depressing, No. So, here's how I can answer the question of IMPACT. The students are engaged. They are becoming skilled in the craft. They enjoy and embrace this class, which is called, Drone Gurus aka STEM aka Media Arts. I can tell by the smiles on their faces and their proficiency each week.\r\n\r\nYes, this class is also about art, photography, videography, productions, etc. The drones are part of our tool kit. We use them for demos, covering events, aerial photography, competitions, and more. Anyone can fly a drone, but with our students, safety, accuracy, and abiding by the rules of the sky are paramount.\r\n\r\nWe were gifted a DJI controller, which allows our students to run with the Big Boys. We were gifted racing gates, which allow our students to hone in on their accuracy and safety. The overall impact, in my opinion, is that our students are becoming more immersed in the drone world and becoming skilled architects of a skill that will be with us for a long time to come. As elementary school students, they are ahead of the pack.","fullyFundedDate":1758898848220,"projectUrl":"project/education-with-drones/9686722/","projectTitle":"Education With Drones","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Teacher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/parkslopeschool"},{"teacherId":181606,"projectId":9634272,"letterContent":"On behalf of our classroom, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your incredible donation of new and engaging books. Your generosity has brought so much joy and excitement into our learning space.\r\n\r\nThere's truly nothing like the smell of a brand-new book and the feel of fresh, crisp pages in your hands—and our students couldn't agree more! They are absolutely thrilled to dive into these new stories. Each book has opened a new world for them, sparked curiosity, and fueled a growing love for reading. It's a joy to see their eyes light up as they explore adventures, meet new characters, and discover the magic of books.\r\n\r\nAs the author Emilie Buchwald once said, \"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.\" In our classroom, thanks to you, we're helping to nurture that love every day.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us build a classroom where reading is not only encouraged—but truly loved.","fullyFundedDate":1758899277824,"projectUrl":"project/book-it-forward/9634272/","projectTitle":"Book it Forward","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paolucci","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/gpaolucci"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_669","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":385,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":66,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.9,"schoolId":669,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 346 Abe Stark on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 346 Abe Stark","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-346-abe-stark/669"}
