Every day, students eagerly checked on the eggs and chicks, turning our classroom into a hands-on learning environment filled with excitement, curiosity, and meaningful discussions. Students learned about life cycles, animal needs, observation skills, and scientific processes in a way that textbooks alone could never provide. They practiced asking questions, making predictions, recording observations, and working together to solve problems as the chicks grew and changed each day. The experience brought learning to life and helped students make real-world connections to science concepts in a memorable and engaging way.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, this project helped our students grow emotionally and socially as well. Caring for the chicks taught them responsibility, patience, teamwork, and compassion. Students worked together to help maintain the brooder, ensure the chicks were safe and comfortable, and remind one another about proper care routines. Many students who are usually quiet or hesitant became more engaged and confident through this shared classroom experience. Our read aloud books are also now so easy to grab! These bookshelves fit PERFECT under our smartboard, which is front and center to our classroom, which helps build the importance of STEM too!
