I know that's a simple way to tell you about the good you've done. However, if you could be in the classroom with my students while they are cooking, you would see kids who are learning from each other, laughing, cooking food they enjoy, eating together, working on their reading and math skills, and appreciating the opportunity to have a safe, fun place to be after school. We have used the appliances and supplies that we received to cook up quite a few delicious treats: tacos, empanadas, spaghetti, mug cakes, and mini donuts. The tacos seemed to be the favorite amongst the students. One student even said that the tacos were so tasty that he felt like he was in Heaven.\r\n\r\nOne of the best things about being a teacher is getting to see curiosity in the kids. When the students saw their new materials they were so excited and curious. They were excited that we were able to get more sets of measuring cups, so more of them could participate at one time. We also learned how to use the blender to make guasacaca sauce!\r\n\r\nWe plan on continuing this learning as long as we possibly can. These materials have helped us to be able to teach students how to cook nutritious meals and snacks without spending a lot of money and without having access to traditional kitchen appliances. I know that every week, cooking club gives the kids something good to look forward to because they always stop in the hallway to ask me what we'll be cooking up this week!","fullyFundedDate":1734928103046,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-up-creativity-and-kindness/8667598/","projectTitle":"Cooking Up Creativity and Kindness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Doctor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2958259_orig.jpg?crop=676,676,x196,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699846875882","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2958259"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82412","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":314,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":11,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":42.0,"schoolId":82412,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kennedy Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kennedy Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/kennedy-middle-school/82412"}
