My students are amazing people! As they describe themselves, they take things insanely serious. Each day I see the way that some of these students are able to rise above their difficulties, and that encourages me to try to be a better person (and a better teacher) each day. I have the honor of working with students that are gifted. These students are funny and insightful. I love those moments when their thinking gives me goosebumps. Although we are a low income school, we are able to accomplish amazing things such as literacy night. At literacy night, students show off their talents and parents come to appreciate their children. Everyone gets a meal and has a fun time. The school works closely with the community and as a community itself. The end of the school year is a special time for me, not because summer vacation is coming, but because of the feeling of family that has been built throughout the school year.
