The materials have changed the environment in my classroom for the better. In this ever-changing environment, the students have become more emotional over the years since covid. The kinetic sand has been a go to place for children to explore while self-soothing their sensory needs. The soft plushies have been placed in our \"Cozy Corner\" and when the children need that extra time alone to process feelings, they find comfort in hugging their new friends. It brings smiles to their faces and allows them to reenter play with a sense of calmness. I've added the Dot story book to our growing library, and the cute feeling toys are an awesome way of sharing how we feel without having to use words. Once a child grabs a feeling, we can address it and work together with them. Last, the magnatiles have been such a treat at the table toys for them to go and use their imaginations to create structures and build relationships with other children. Words cannot express how thankful I am for caring and giving people as yourselves.","fullyFundedDate":1727959029938,"projectUrl":"project/building-imaginations/8597951/","projectTitle":"Building Imaginations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. De Los Santos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3629169_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1471484291242","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lids4kids"},{"teacherId":5794266,"projectId":8932820,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for your generous donation! PK 16 is full of curiosity and wonder and were so eager to use many of the materials. They especially loved the science viewers! Many have not been to a zoo or an aquarium so seeing all these animals through the viewers made many of them gasp and some were eager to share their knowledge of the animals they were familiar with. It made our dreary Winter months more exciting and gave the children something to look forward to everyday. We also made homemade snow and did ice painting!\r\n Now that the Winter months are coming to a close (we hope!) my class is excited to use the hydroponics kit so we can watch plants grow up close and personal. Seeing the children coming to school eager to learn and explore is priceless! Many of our students' families do not have the economic means to go to a zoo or an aquarium; these materials provide hands-on experiences that come close to the real thing as much as possible. I see the gears in their minds turning and processing new information. As preschoolers, exposure to many of these activities will be moments that will help them love science, engineering and art!
