They're using the supplies across multiple projects and daily activities—from creating Minecraft selfies with the skin color markers to animating projects in Scratch with the headphones. The markers and colored pencils have become essential tools for color-coding vocabulary and organizing guided notes in math, while the headphones allow students to access curriculum materials and take state testing with better focus. \r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, my students were thrilled to have quality, functioning materials that actually work! Looking ahead, these resources will be invaluable as we move into our next science unit on cells. Students will create detailed models of plant and animal cells, using the coloring supplies to color-code organelles and bring their understanding to life. The tape dispensers will continue to support our daily workflow, helping students organize guided notes in math and lab papers in science. \r\n\r\nYour generous donation has truly enhanced our classroom learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1768691010539,"projectUrl":"project/new-year-new-supplies/10030166/","projectTitle":"New Year, New Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kirkwood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1581728_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532490242798","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kirkwoodclass"},{"teacherId":10407787,"projectId":10031162,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing the wobble stools. Many of my students benefit from movement during class, and these have been an effective outlet.\r\n\r\nWhen I introduced the stools, students responded with immediate curiosity and enthusiasm. As they began using them, I observed noticeable increases in both attention and engagement.\r\n\r\nIn a classroom with diverse learning needs, particularly among students who require sensory input or benefit from frequent movement, having flexible seating options is not a luxury but a necessity. Traditional chairs often require sustained stillness, which can be a barrier for students who are neurologically wired to move in order to regulate their focus. The wobble stools address this directly by allowing controlled, low-level movement while still maintaining a structured learning environment. Students are able to shift, rock, and adjust their posture without becoming disruptive, which helps them stay present during instruction.\r\n\r\nI have observed that students who previously struggled to remain seated or attentive for extended periods are now better able to participate in lessons and complete tasks. The stools provide an appropriate outlet for excess energy, reducing the need for redirection and minimizing off-task behaviors. This has had a positive impact not only on individual students but also on the overall classroom environment, as fewer interruptions allow for smoother transitions and more consistent instructional time.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the stools support student autonomy. Rather than being told to sit still, students are given a tool that helps them meet expectations in a way that aligns with their individual needs. This fosters a sense of ownership over their learning and behavior. Several students have independently chosen to use the stools during activities that require sustained focus, which demonstrates their growing awareness of what helps them succeed.\r\n\r\nFrom a teacher's perspective, the wobble stools have become an integral part of my classroom management and instructional strategy. They are easy to incorporate, require minimal maintenance, and provide immediate, observable benefits. The increased engagement I have seen translates into higher quality work, improved participation, and a more inclusive environment where students feel supported.\r\n\r\nOverall, the addition of wobble stools has made a meaningful difference in my classroom. They bridge the gap between movement and learning, allowing students to meet academic expectations while honoring their need for physical activity. I appreciate the opportunity to provide my students with tools that support both their focus and their well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1768696673773,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-focused-learning/10031162/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Focused Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Jon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10407787"},{"teacherId":9359676,"projectId":9994055,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! With limited book funds, adding new, high-quality literature to our curriculum felt out of reach. Your support has changed that. These titles have opened the door for rich whole-class novel studies that strengthen essential literacy skills such as analyzing theme, tracking character development, exploring symbolism, and supporting ideas with clear text evidence.\r\n\r\nWith Holes, students eagerly untangle the layered plot structure and examine how choices, consequences, and family history intersect. The novel provides wonderful opportunities to teach cause and effect, characterization, and irony. In Esperanza Rising, students explore figurative language, historical context, and the theme of resilience. The story sparks thoughtful conversations about identity, perseverance, and empathy. Our classroom discussions have become deeper and more student-driven as learners cite passages, build on each other's ideas, and make meaningful text-to-world connections.\r\n\r\nIt has been especially rewarding to watch students who may not always see themselves as \"readers\" become engaged in these stories. Some are captivated by the mystery and humor in Holes, while others feel a strong emotional connection to Esperanza's journey. Even the electric pencil sharpener has helped maximize our instructional time by reducing small disruptions and keeping us focused on learning.
