Your support has provided essential resources, including new headsets with microphones and vibrant sets of markers for 45 students across four English Language Learner (ELL) classes.\r\n\r\nI am already seeing the positive impact of your contribution. The headsets are helping students strengthen their listening and speaking skills by providing a focused, private space to practice pronunciation. The colorful markers and visual materials encourage hands-on learning, allowing students to draw, create stories, and communicate ideas even when words are still developing.\r\n\r\nYour generosity goes far beyond providing supplies. You, donors, have shown my ELL students that their voices matter. Because of your support, they feel more confident and empowered to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1767290351464,"projectUrl":"project/mic-check-12-ell-coming-through/9734726/","projectTitle":"Mic Check 1,2... Because of your kindness, my students now have more opportunities to learn through hands-on technology, and they absolutely love it.\r\n\r\nThe Ozobots have quickly become a favorite tool in our room. They are helping students build important skills like critical thinking and problem-solving as they plan, test, and revise their coding ideas. One of the most exciting parts for students is seeing their work come to life right away. They love designing color-coded paths and watching the Ozobots respond instantly. That immediate feedback keeps them engaged and motivates them to keep trying, even when things don't work the first time.\r\n\r\nWe've also been connecting the Ozobots to our Social Studies and ELA learning. In Social Studies, students are using them to map out historical journeys and explore events in a more interactive, visual way. In ELA, they're using the robots to bring stories to life, coding paths that represent plot events or character journeys. It's been a fun and meaningful way to deepen their understanding while keeping them engaged.\r\n\r\nI've seen some amazing growth in students who don't always connect with traditional lessons. Some quieter students have really come out of their shells, taking on leadership roles and helping others during activities. Watching their confidence grow has been one of the best parts of this experience.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly made a difference in our classroom. Because of your generosity, my middle school students are now learning essential life skills in a kitchen and classroom space that feels safe, welcoming, and set up for success. We are actively using the new cookware, aprons, mixing bowls, safety tools, and visual guides during our cooking labs, giving every student the chance to participate fully and build real confidence. One of our first labs using the new materials was especially memorable. Students took pride in wearing their aprons, practicing safety procedures, and working together like true chefs.\r\n\r\nThe Fashion Curriculum and Child Development Bingo were instant hits as well, turning abstract concepts into hands-on, fun learning moments that sparked creativity and collaboration. Students are currently sewing their own outfits!\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources as we explore units in cooking, fashion and design, and child developmentâconnecting classroom learning to future careers and everyday life skills. Having colorful and rewarding resources has really helped me to get my 6th grade students organized and motivated. \r\n\r\nI ordered several colors of construction and copy paper. These have really helped with keeping students organized, as it gives us the ability to color code work. The students have been learning Greek and Latin roots, so I am now able to provide different colors for each list. Students prefer the brightness and selection of colors to plain white copy paper but it also allows them to sort their work by the week. Additionally, we just completed a hefty writing project that was divided over several class periods. With the colored copy paper, I was able to split the assignment into parts by color. This helped students to easily know which phase of the writing they had completed. As a teacher, I could visually see by color how each student was progressing. When students were a few \"colors\" behind, I knew they needed more support!\r\n\r\nJust this week, I had a difficult parent meeting and was able to quickly print a colored copy of a reading growth report to illustrate the lack of progress. I have also been able to reward students with colorful certificates and lots of stickers on their hands and work. Thank you for making my classroom a brighter and more cheerful learning environment. Ozobots are small programmable robots that students code using color patterns and simple block-based commands. This allows students to practice sequencing, problem-solving, and logical thinking, skills that directly support reading comprehension, writing organization, and historical analysis. By integrating this technology into ELA and SS lessons, students are learning that coding is not just for computer class, but a tool that supports thinking across all subjects.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is seeing their ideas come to life. Whether they are programming an Ozobot to follow the path of a historical journey, sequence events from a text, or represent cause-and-effect relationships, the learning feels interactive and meaningful. Students are highly engaged, collaborating with peers, testing their code, revising when something doesn't work, and celebrating successes together. The excitement in the room is contagious as students realize they are capable of coding and creative problem-solving.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle with traditional instruction have especially thrived using Ozobots. Students with exceptional needs, hands-on learners, and those who may be hesitant to participate verbally have gained confidence through this technology. Coding with Ozobots gives them a way to demonstrate understanding without fear of being \"wrong,\" encouraging persistence and self-confidence. Your support has opened doors for my students to engage, explore, and learn in ways that are inclusive, empowering, and inspiring. \r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for making this meaningful learning experience possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768174517306,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-get-ozobots-into-my-students-han/10003276/","projectTitle":"Help Me Get Ozobots Into My Students Hands!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Commons","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7943335"},{"teacherId":7943335,"projectId":9898025,"letterContent":"Your generosity made something possible for me that I could not have done on my own. Pursuing National Board Certification in Exceptional Needs is a demanding and expensive process, and as a teacher, I do not have extra income to spare. Knowing that someone believed in me enough to invest in my growth lifted a heavy financial and emotional burden. Because of your support, I was able to fully commit to the training, reflection, and learning required to become a better educator, without having to choose between my professional growth and my personal responsibilities.\r\n\r\nThis certification has already had a powerful impact on my classroom and on the Washoe County students I serve every day. The process pushed me to look more deeply at my students as individuals, especially those with exceptional needs, and to refine how I plan, assess, and respond to their learning. One of my most meaningful moments this year was watching students who often doubt themselves begin to speak up, take academic risks, and recognize their own progress. The strategies and mindset I gained through this training helped me create a classroom where students feel understood, supported, and capable, and that confidence carries far beyond a single lesson.\r\n\r\nYour contribution didn't just change my life as a teacher; it changed the daily experiences of my students here in Reno.
