Thanks to you, we are now the proud owners of a new Cricut machine and accessories. This new equipment has been a wonderfully fun addition to our classroom, and we are so appreciative of the new opportunities you have given us.\r\n\r\nWe are still in the early learning phase, but the excitement is already building. Members of our clubs and some of our more adventurous students have eagerly started to learn the design software, and we've already successfully made our first few prints. It is inspiring to see them take the initiative to explore this new technology. We look forward to continuing to build our skills and fully utilizing this machine to unlock our students' creativity. Your donation has made a tangible and immediate impact, and we cannot thank you enough.","fullyFundedDate":1757300837625,"projectUrl":"project/taking-off-with-technology-a-cricut-for/9530350/","projectTitle":"Taking Off With Technology: A Cricut for Aviation Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cope","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5407218_orig.jpg?crop=1774,1774,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698941984470","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5407218"},{"teacherId":9564639,"projectId":9149085,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our literature circles project. Because of you, my students now have access to engaging, contemporary books that spark discussion and curiosity in ways that traditional texts sometimes can't. These new additions give students the chance to practice important skills like analyzing characters' choices, connecting themes to real-world issues, and comparing perspectives across different authors. Through these texts, they are learning not just how to read more deeply, but also how to talk about books with one another in meaningful and respectful ways.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading looks interactive and vibrant. Students gather in small groups with their chosen books, guiding their own discussions, asking questions, and bringing their personal experiences into the conversation. Instead of reading being a silent, solitary task, it has become a shared experience where students learn from each other as much as from the text. The room often hums with energy as they make connections and challenge one another's ideas.\r\n\r\nI've already seen students light up with these books in their hands. One quiet sophomore who usually avoids speaking in class has been leading his group's discussions because he is so invested in the story. Another student, who previously described herself as \"not a reader,\" told me she actually couldn't put her book down and finished it early—something that has never happened before. These moments are powerful reminders of why access to engaging literature matters. Your donations have truly expanded not just our library, but my students' sense of themselves as readers and thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1741665352779,"projectUrl":"project/literature-circles-for-english/9149085/","projectTitle":"Literature Circles for English","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Otuafi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9564639_orig.jpg?crop=505,505,x25,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717783707118","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9564639"},{"teacherId":9564639,"projectId":8598131,"letterContent":"In our classroom, the literature circles unit with donated books has been a transformative experience for students. By choosing their own books, students were more engaged and motivated, diving deeply into discussions about plot, setting, theme, conflict, characterization, and irony. Through these discussions, they developed critical thinking and analytical skills, learning to interpret and analyze the text from different perspectives. The Double Entry Journals allowed students to reflect on key moments in the story, connecting their personal thoughts to quotes from the text. This approach not only helped them develop stronger writing skills but also encouraged collaboration and communication, as students learned to express their ideas and listen to others.\r\n\r\nThe classroom reading environment is interactive and student-centered, with group discussions driving engagement and independent writing fostering personal reflection. Students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to explore books that aligned with their interests, and some students who were previously reluctant readers found themselves more motivated. Advanced readers and active participants in discussions thrived as they analyzed complex themes and character development. Overall, the literature circles allowed students to deepen their understanding of literature while enjoying the process of discovery and collaboration.","fullyFundedDate":1723899110040,"projectUrl":"project/the-gift-of-literature-circles/8598131/","projectTitle":"The Gift of Literature Circles","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Otuafi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9564639_orig.jpg?crop=505,505,x25,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717783707118","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9564639"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55541","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":572,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":20,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.4,"schoolId":55541,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Academy of Arts Careers & Technology on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Academy of Arts Careers & Technology","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/academy-of-arts-careers-tech/55541"}
