The students in my microbiology class have been using a very old incubator since I started teaching. The incubator is unreliable, and there is some difficulty achieving results with growth, culturing, and staining bacteria during labs. A new incubator will help to smooth out many of the problems associated with trying to provide a college-level microbiology lab in a high school setting for students. Completing a skill intensive lab only to have the results skewed due to an equipment malfunction is disheartening for the students, and having a new incubator would solve many, if not all, of the issues.
