Mental health, trauma, poverty and stress are barriers to education. When children are suffering they cannot concentrate, they are absent, they stagnate. Many of my students are on 504's and IEP's these children need the extra support a calm a therapy office can offer. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student mental health but their attention and focus. When a student learns to manage their anxiety, grief, or anger they ultimately increase their academic and lifetime achievement. COVID has brought mental health in children to the forefront. Materials like flex seating, alternative lighting, cozy rugs, play therapy toys and materials will help give my students the boost they need. Students will utilize these materials in group and individual therapy so they can learn to recognize their emotions and develop the tools they need to self regulate and reengage in their education. This project will assist kids in grades K-5.
