The Casio Advanced Scientific Calculators will be used by my students in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. They are the same calculators used in many of the general education classrooms, ensuring a seamless transition for students who need extra individual math support in my class, extra time to practice math concepts, and a quiet, small group environment in which to take assessments. The mobile whiteboards will allow me to work with students of all grade levels on various subjects during the same class period. As the only special education teacher on staff, I need to be able to move from 9th-grade Biology to 11th grade English to 10th grade Math, and these whiteboards will allow me to provide the visual supports needed to reach all learners in my classroom. Data shows that flexible seating options, such as the balance ball chairs, can increase focus and productivity in students with ADHD and ASD. By having these in my classroom, I am providing students with a safe space in which to get needed external stimulation so that they are able to focus on the task at hand. All of these items will be used to fill gaps that students have in their education due to lost classroom instruction time caused by COVID and will continue to benefit students on IEPs who attend AACT in the future.
