When the Govee Curtain Lights arrived, my students were immediately excited—many of them said the room felt more \"alive\" and even compared it to a science lab or a STEM studio. The lights instantly grabbed their attention and created an atmosphere that made students more motivated and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThese lights have become more than just classroom decor. I've been able to use them as a visual learning tool during lessons by changing colors and patterns to represent geoscience concepts such as seismic waves, layers of the atmosphere, and movement along plate boundaries. Since many geoscience topics are very visual, the lights help students better understand ideas that can sometimes feel abstract. It has also helped me keep students focused during instruction and transitions because the lights create clear visual cues and a more structured learning environment.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project has helped boost student engagement and made our classroom feel like a space where learning is exciting and creative. We will continue using these lights throughout the year as both an instructional tool and a way to build a positive classroom environment. When the spectroscope arrived, students were immediately curious and couldn't wait to try it. They were amazed to see that light has hidden patterns and colors that we normally don't notice. Watching them explore different light sources and talk about what they observed was such a great moment—it truly sparked curiosity and made our astronomy lessons feel more real.\r\n\r\nThe Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils of the U.S.A. Collection was also a huge hit. Students loved being able to hold real specimens, examine them up close, and compare different rocks and fossils. It made our geology lessons so much more engaging because they weren't just looking at pictures in a textbook—they were working with real materials like actual geoscientists. Even students who are usually quiet became more involved because they were excited to touch, observe, and discuss what they were seeing.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped make science come alive in our classroom. This has helped create a safer environment by reducing tangled wires and preventing students from stretching cords across walkways during activities.\r\n\r\nMy students immediately noticed the improvement during our hands-on labs. They were able to set up stations more efficiently, move around more comfortably, and focus more on the investigation instead of worrying about where to plug in devices. It also allowed me to organize lab groups better, making sure every student has equal access to materials and technology needed for learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our lab is now more functional, organized, and most importantly, safer for student learning. Using the Kepler's Planetary Motion Kit, students modeled how planets orbit the Sun and learned how gravity influences motion. Instead of simply memorizing Kepler's Laws from a textbook, they were able to observe patterns, make predictions, and actually see why planets move the way they do. Many students were surprised by how hands-on the lesson was, and they became more confident asking questions and sharing their observations.\r\n\r\nThe Learning Resources Inflatable Solar System was also a huge hit. When students first saw the planets, they were immediately engaged and excited to compare the sizes and distances. It helped them visualize concepts that are usually difficult to grasp, such as scale, planetary order, and how vast our solar system really is. Students were especially amazed to see how small Earth is compared to Jupiter and Saturn, which led to meaningful discussions about perspective and the uniqueness of our planet.\r\n\r\nThese resources made astronomy more than just an abstract topic—they turned it into an experience students could physically interact with. The students were honestly amazed the first time they saw the bright colors and patterns under polarized light—several of them said it looked like \"art\" or \"a rainbow inside the rock,\" and they couldn't wait to take turns exploring the slides.\r\n\r\nThe fossil collection was also a huge hit in our classroom. We used it as part of our PBL fossil project, where students chose fossils to research and used them as evidence to explain what life may have looked like long ago. Being able to hold and examine real fossils made the project feel more exciting and meaningful, and students were much more engaged because it didn't feel like just another assignment—it felt like real science.\r\n\r\nThese materials have truly made a difference in how my students experience Geoscience. I've always strived to provide a clean, comforting, and supportive environment to my students and it's been wonderful to share these donated supplies with them. Firstly, the air purifier has been greatly appreciated in increasing the air quality of the classroom. Our school is one of the oldest high schools in Las Vegas and it means a lot to me to know that impurities are being taken care of effectively. Students have also noted that the room smells more fresh and that odors don't linger as long. \r\n\r\nLastly, I'd like to discuss the plethora of personal hygiene products and the shelves/drawers that were donated. I used to have these very small drawers that only held a few categories of personal hygiene items, but now I'm able to provide a wider variety in an organized fashion. Students are allowed to take materials as they need them and I've had to replenish the drawers multiple times due to the popularity of the products. I've had students who are thankful that they can just quickly grab what they need without drawing attention to their personal hygiene needs and I've even had a few students who were astonished by the quality of the products available to them. \r\n\r\nAs I said previously, I am extremely grateful for your donation to my classroom. Your support has made a meaningful and lasting impact on both the learning environment and the daily experiences of my students. It is because of thoughtful contributions like yours that I am able to create a space where students feel supported, engaged, and excited to learn. \r\n Many of the supplies I requested were basic necessities to stock up the classroom, such as headphones, erasers, markers, and laminating sheets. While these seem like simple items that would not make a huge impact, they helped me practice new routines and allowed for my students to access new content in fun ways. They enjoyed the option of using whiteboards to participate in class discussions, and for students who are on the shy side, this made a world of difference for them. Some of the more fun items I ordered for our classroom, such as the beanbag chair and games, helped make the classroom environment more fun and welcoming. Students love when they get a chance to sit and chill in the chair, especially when they require a quiet area to focus while reading. We have yet to try our \"Loteria\" games but I am planning to use it during the semester exam review. We did something similar in the fall with BINGO and Jeopardy and the kids loved it. \r\n Again, I cannot thank you enough for helping us out. Your generosity has truly elevated the quality of my instruction and, more importantly, improved the day-to-day experience for my students. The materials you provided have become more than just supplies; they are tools for equity, engagement, and joy in our classroom.
