Reading is an essential skill every one needs to have in their toolbox of knowledge. My students need to read more. Many are behind in their reading levels and tend to struggle with the material presented in class as a result. I would love to have classroom sets of books found in the curriculum so the students that need them can borrow them and take them home. I am requesting Brave New World, The Crucible, The Great Gatsby, 1984, Slaughterhouse Five, and Death of a Salesman. I know that the students who struggle with reading would benefit immensely from these books. Just having a source that they can keep with them to better understand the material would do wonders. Because of the socioeconomic status of our school, outside resources are limited. I want my students to have their knowledge toolboxes complete when they leave my room. I do not want someone to be at a disadvantage simply because they lack money.
