Now that students are accustomed to visual media (like Snap Chat and Instagram), it is more challenging than ever to hook them into reading. It is even harder to motivate students reading below grade level. This project is to create a graphic novel section in my classroom library to reach those kids who need the extra incentive and support to read. They will be used for pair reading and silent sustained reading time. These graphic novels will improve vocabulary, engage the readers, and build confidence. This selection of novels is just a beginning but it includes coming of age themes, classic literature, and diverse authors. Please help me ignite a love for reading in my students.
