From the very first day, students were excited to use the materials and they learned a lot from it. Students now have materials to practice what they are learning in school. In addition to learning letters, sounds, numbers and counting sequences in class, they can apply these concepts to completing tasks with manipulatives during small groups. For example, students showed that they understand which uppercase letter keys opened the lowercase letter locks. They also used manipulatives to show what objects began with the letter sound. The rekenreks are most useful to show one-to-one correspondence, addition and subtraction. Students also used it to compare quantities. \r\n\r\nWhen students use what they learned in class to complete tasks, they show what they learned.
