We have been using the VEX HEXBUG Hook Shot Ball Machines as part of a design challenge in which students must build, test, and refine their shooting mechanisms to improve accuracy and consistency. One memorable moment came when a group of students adjusted their angle and force after several failed attempts—when they finally made their shot, the entire class erupted in cheers. It was a powerful example of perseverance, problem-solving, and teamwork in action.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate and contagious. Students were eager to open the kits, examine the pieces, and begin building right away. Many of them were amazed that they would get to use such interactive equipment in class, and their curiosity sparked thoughtful questions about how the machines worked. Even students who are typically more reserved quickly became engaged, collaborating with their peers and confidently sharing ideas.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue to build on these experiences by taking on more advanced design challenges. They will analyze performance data, make strategic improvements, and even create their own mini-competitions that incorporate scoring systems and constraints. These next steps will deepen their understanding of engineering principles while strengthening critical thinking and collaboration skills. Your support has not only enhanced our current lessons but also opened the door to continued innovation and creativity in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1776452245029,"projectUrl":"project/hook-shot-ball-machines-for-robotics/10193262/","projectTitle":"Hook Shot Ball Machines for Robotics!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Palmira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5576557_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532627315956","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5576557"},{"teacherId":10411902,"projectId":10039436,"letterContent":"My students have been using the new supplies for many labs. They really liked seeing the crystals form! \r\nWe also used the convection boxes during our heat transfer stations. From the very first day, students began using the bins to organize gears, beams, connectors, and sensors by type and size. During a recent build challenge, I watched a team quickly gather exactly what they needed without hesitation—something that used to take several minutes of searching. That extra time allowed them to test multiple design ideas, refine their robot, and ultimately create a stronger, more efficient build. The organization has made our classroom feel more like a real engineering lab, and students are taking pride in maintaining it.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new storage system, their reaction was immediate excitement. They noticed right away how clean, professional, and easy-to-use everything looked. Several students commented on how much easier it would be to find parts, and they were eager to help label and sort materials. It gave them a sense of ownership over the classroom, and they quickly took responsibility for returning items to the correct bins. That sense of pride and accountability has carried over into their teamwork and overall engagement.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students are using this improved organization to take on more advanced challenges. Currently, they are working on designing and refining robots for upcoming competitions, focusing on efficiency, precision, and strategy. With less time spent searching for parts, they are able to spend more time coding, testing, and iterating on their designs. The next steps include improving autonomous routines and fine-tuning their builds for performance tasks. Your support has not only improved our classroom environment but has also opened the door for deeper learning and more ambitious engineering projects.","fullyFundedDate":1776092100042,"projectUrl":"project/storage-for-robotics-classroom/10101102/","projectTitle":"Storage for Robotics Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Palmira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5576557_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532627315956","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5576557"},{"teacherId":10399855,"projectId":9997738,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generosity in supporting our project, Healthy Habits in Action. The color printer allows me to provide engaging materials like fitness logs, goal-setting sheets, and health activities that help students track their progress and better understand key concepts. The tablet supports research, interactive lessons, and small-group learning, giving students opportunities to explore real-world health topics in a more hands-on way.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is how students have responded to the photo printer. They love being able to capture moments of teamwork, participation, and personal progress.
