My students are so excited to dive into learning face-to-face this year. Many of them haven't had access to a physical book in over a year. Having a classroom library will keep their excitement, engage their interests, and activate a love for reading. Having these wonderful books isn't all, I will use the eye-catching tree bookshelf to house some of those outstanding books. I will use the other shelves and storage bins to organize books so that students can easily navigate their way through the library. In addition to my students having access to diverse and interesting books, they will be engaged in our literacy lessons with bright colored paper as well as large posters that we will create together. Doing these together allows the students to be active participant in their own learning. This project will aid me in teaching the standard CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.3.10 which explains that by the end of the year, students can read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at the high end of the grades 2-3 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
