These kits provide hands-on opportunities for students to explore the fundamentals of building and mechanical motion in a way that is both approachable and exciting. Rather than simply learn from a textbook or slideshow, students can now physically build and test small-scale robotics systems, seeing in real time how gears, sensors, and motors work together to bring their creations to life. This hands-on application of STEM concepts makes abstract ideas tangible and helps students grasp the engineering design process more deeply.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most about the new kits is how quickly they can bring their ideas to life. The Hexbug robots are small, fun, and easy to assemble, which means students can move from brainstorming to testing in a single class period. The excitement in the room when a student's robot finally moves or reacts as planned is contagious--it turns learning into play and challenges them to improve their designs. These kits have also helped to build teamwork and problem-solving skills, as students collaborate to troubleshoot and refine their builds.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom is buzzing with excitement and discovery. Your support has made it possible for every student to experience the joy of engineering in action.","fullyFundedDate":1759264772110,"projectUrl":"project/robotics-kits-for-the-classroom/9691753/","projectTitle":"Robotics Kits for the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Palmira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5576557_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532627315956","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5576557"},{"teacherId":5576557,"projectId":9481180,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our middle school classroom received a Sphero BOLT+ robot, and it has quickly become one of the most engaging tools in our learning environment. The robot allows students to learn coding in a hands-on way by programming movement, lights, and sensors. For many students, this makes abstract coding concepts more concrete—they can immediately see how their code changes the robot's behavior. It has also encouraged teamwork, as students naturally collaborate to troubleshoot and refine their programs, building both problem-solving skills and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is seeing their ideas come to life in real time. They love experimenting with different commands to make the Sphero roll, spin, or flash colorful patterns of light, and they often challenge themselves to design creative mazes or games. This spark of excitement has kept them eager to explore new coding concepts and to push their skills further than they thought possible.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were initially quiet or hesitant in class have especially connected with this technology. For example, one student who struggled with traditional assignments has discovered a talent for programming the Sphero and now volunteers to help classmates. Watching students gain confidence, collaborate more effectively, and take pride in their learning has been a direct result of this project, and we are so grateful for the opportunity you've given them.","fullyFundedDate":1757019801920,"projectUrl":"project/sphero-bolt-for-the-stem-classroom/9481180/","projectTitle":"Sphero Bolt+ for the STEM Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Palmira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5576557_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532627315956","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5576557"},{"teacherId":9993357,"projectId":9243462,"letterContent":"I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous support of our classroom project to bring Stuart Little to our self-contained autism classes. Your kindness has made a significant impact on our students' learning and growth.\r\n\r\nStuart Little is more than just a storybook for our students—it is a doorway to imagination, language development, and social understanding. For many of our learners, stories like this help build essential skills in communication, empathy, and connection with others. Thanks to your donation, our students now have access to this wonderful resource that enriches their educational experience in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThe joy and excitement I see on their faces as we explore the adventures of Stuart Little are priceless. Your support has not only provided materials but has also helped create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued and inspired to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures. Students used the new boards, timers, and snacks during their weekly meetings, creating a focused and welcoming space to learn and play. The snacks added a special touch becasue they gave students a little time to chat and connect before each meeting began, building camaraderie and excitement for the games ahead.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was amazing! One student immediately set up a board and invited a friend to try a tricky opening move, while another cheered when they finally executed a strategy they had been practicing. During our in-class tournaments, the snacks worked perfectly as prizes, motivating students to challenge themselves and celebrate each other's successes. The new resources made the sessions more engaging, and it was wonderful to see students encourage and support one another.\r\n\r\nAlthough I have since switched schools, materials were left behind for the next Chess Club advisor. I know they will continue to host tournaments, strategy challenges, and fun activities, giving students opportunities to grow, build confidence, and enjoy the game together.
