When students are upset and need a moment to self-regulate, they get five minutes to use these materials to help them calm down and be ready to learn. Students also get to use some of these materials at the end of their library time to build things and give them an outlet for their couped up energy. I have noticed that students really come together and work as teams when needing to share materials or want to build something really big and cool. These materials also give my students a way to connect with their special ed peers. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity (thanks to you!) to start my year with all of the flexible seating types already in my room. At our Meet and Greet night, a few nights before school started, the kids got to come visit and see the classroom. They were so excited when they saw the different types of seats they would get to try out once school started. \r\n\r\nBeing able to offer my students flexible seating options has enabled my students to feel more comfortable in the classroom they spend six hours a day in. They now know that they can be comfortable and still learn at the same time and that brings their excitement for school back! Students use our calming materials when needed to reset and start or continue the day with confidence, which has already led to stronger collaboration and kindness.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out was during our Meet and Greet when students walked in, and immediately began exploring.
