We've been using the new materials to explore different elements of art like color, texture, and form through projects such as mixed media collages and guided painting activities. One memorable moment was watching students experiment with blending colors for the first time many of them were amazed at how they could create entirely new shades on their own, and it sparked so much excitement and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled. Their faces lit up as they explored the supplies, and they were eager to jump right into creating. For many of them, having access to high-quality art tools made them feel like \"real artists,\" which boosted their confidence and willingness to take creative risks. Even students who are typically more hesitant to participate were engaged and excited to share their ideas.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are continuing to build on these skills by working on a larger project that incorporates multiple techniques we've practiced. We've been using these materials every day—whether students are illustrating scenes from the stories we read, creating detailed maps in social studies, or showing their thinking in math through colorful diagrams. The kids are doing so well with this and the extra drum has provided one more opportunity for students to get to play and learn. \r\n Another thing I purchased were new music borders for my bulletin boards. My students are working on recorder karate where they can play songs to earn belts for their recorders. Due to the new wooden shelf organizer I received, we now have a sturdy and beautiful writing center stocked with paper, pens, markers, tape, stickers, scissors, etc. Now we have a permanent area for students to create and display their imaginative stories. We are in the midst of our fresh water/recycling unit. My students loved using their new markers to create and hang posters encouraging our school community to conserve water. We are beginning to work on gifts for Mother's Day. My students will create beautiful flower paintings inspired by the artwork of Georgia O'Keeffe on the white canvases I received. As we begin to wind down the school year, I'm excited to focus on a couple of STEM activities/projects.
