As a high school counselor, I have the privilege of working with students every day, and one of the things I love most about my students is their resilience. They are balancing academics, family responsibilities, friendships, extracurricular activities, and figuring out what they want their futures to look like. Your generosity has allowed me to provide resources that help take care of some of the everyday needs that can sometimes make it harder for students to focus on school.\r\n\r\nThe new supplies are already becoming an important part of our counseling center. Students can stop by when they need a snack, and the hygiene products are available for students who may need them during the school day. Pens, pencils, and organizational supplies allow me to help students who arrive without the materials they need. One of my favorite parts is seeing how naturally students have started to understand that my office is a safe place where they can ask for help without feeling embarrassed or judged. Sometimes something as simple as offering a student a snack, a pencil, or a hygiene item opens the door to a much bigger conversation about school, their goals, or something they may be going through.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward through the school year, I will continue using these resources to support students academically and personally as they work toward graduation and their future goals. Thank you for investing in my students and helping me care for the whole student. Your generosity has helped create a counseling center where students can feel supported, cared for, and ready to learn. I have even had students come into my office before I had a chance to open all the boxes, excitedly asking, \"Miss, can I please have a snack?\" They were so excited to see all the new and wonderful items we received and to know that they are now available to our students.\r\n\r\nThese resources are going to make such a tremendous difference for our students. Some of our students may struggle to access certain items at home, so I want them to know that if they ever come into my office and need something from my shelves, they can take what they need, no questions asked. Recently, a student came into my office and took a brush, shampoo, and conditioner because she did not have any at home. Being able to provide these basic necessities is something that means so much to me and, most importantly, to our students.\r\n\r\nYour donation truly makes a difference, and its impact will continue to support so many students throughout the school year. Our goal is to make sure every student who walks through our doors feels welcomed, supported, and safe, while also having the resources they need to be ready to learn. Your generosity will definitely help us accomplish that.\r\n\r\nI will continue to keep our shelves stocked and make sure my students have access to the things they need. In video production, students naturally get excited about cameras, lighting, and editing, but they quickly learn that great-looking video can still feel amateur if the audio is bad. The new audio equipment gives my students the opportunity to treat sound as its own department and learn how audio is recorded and monitored on a professional production. They can now take responsibility for sound instead of simply plugging a microphone into a camera and hoping for the best.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see that we were adding equipment specifically dedicated to audio. More importantly, they are learning that these aren't just new gadgets—they are tools that allow them to take on actual production roles. Students can work as camera operators, directors, lighting crew, and now dedicated sound recordists. This gives more students a meaningful job on each production while teaching them how important communication and teamwork are on a real set.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to incorporate this equipment into our interviews, news stories, short films, and other video projects throughout the year. Students will learn proper microphone placement, recording levels, monitoring, capturing clean dialogue and natural sound, and syncing externally recorded audio during post-production. These are skills they can carry into college, CTE programs, and professional production environments. Thank you for helping us build an audio department that gives my students another opportunity to learn by doing and experience what professional production is really like.","fullyFundedDate":1788613633906,"projectUrl":"project/sound-matters-building-our-student-audi/10580494/","projectTitle":"Sound Matters: Building Our Student Audio Department","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Reffner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8123247_orig.jpg?crop=401,401,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1633814206543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-reffner"},{"teacherId":9791427,"projectId":10013742,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our new Teachers Pay Teachers resources have completely transformed how we approach complex biology lessons. Most recently, during our unit on cellular energetics, we used interactive visual modeling kits and data-analysis practice packs to map out metabolic pathways. Instead of struggling through abstract diagrams in a textbook, students worked in small groups to physically map, color-code, and solve real-time physiological scenarios. Watching them debate enzyme functions and build confidence with high-level data analysis was an incredible moment that made the science instantly real and accessible.\r\n\r\nWhen I first introduced these new interactive materials, my students were genuinely thrilled. High schoolers can often feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume and pace of AP content, so seeing visual guides, practice rubrics, and dynamic lab sheets tailored specifically to their learning styles brought a visible wave of relief. The room immediately filled with excitement, with students calling out, \"This makes so much more sense now!\" They felt valued knowing that people outside our school believed in their potential enough to fund these tools.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are using these resources to prep for our upcoming quantitative reasoning and experimental design labs. Students will be applying their newfound conceptual foundation to design their own mini-investigations, analyze raw data sets, and practice writing AP-style free-response questions using our new rubrics. Your support didn't just buy materials for a single day—it built a launchpad that will support their learning for the rest of the academic year as they prepare for the AP exam and future STEM careers. One of the most noticeable changes has been how students engage during sessions. Through this project, we were able to provide nutritional support items, which have been incredibly helpful for students who come in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or dysregulated. Having access to a small snack has created a natural opportunity for grounding, helping students feel more comfortable and open during conversations.\r\n\r\nWe also received stress-relief tools, such as fidget items, which students immediately gravitated toward. When they first saw the materials, many were excited and curious—they often reached for the items right away and began using them. These tools have helped students manage anxiety, improve focus, and feel more at ease, especially during difficult or emotional discussions.\r\n\r\nBeyond the immediate benefits, these resources have strengthened rapport and made it easier for students to access mental health support. The space feels more welcoming and supportive, which encourages students to return and continue working on their goals.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue incorporating these tools into ongoing lessons around emotional regulation, coping skills, and self-awareness. Students will practice identifying when they need support and independently choosing tools—like snacks for grounding or stress items for calming—to help manage their emotions. Over time, the goal is for students to build these skills so they can apply them both in and outside of the school setting.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a space where students feel supported, safe, and ready to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1768402799447,"projectUrl":"project/nutritional-support-for-social-workers/10012419/","projectTitle":"Nutritional Support for Social Workers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bryce","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9777201"},{"teacherId":8127504,"projectId":10003913,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing such a valuable and engaging lab experience. This activity gave students the opportunity to perform around 100 different chemical reactions, which is an incredible way to reinforce their understanding of stoichiometry through hands-on learning. The level of repetition and variety allowed students to build confidence and improve their skills in a way that traditional instruction alone cannot achieve. I especially appreciate how well-designed and sustainable this lab is.
