The students were more involved and active in class. When we completed a lab exercise, the students were thrilled to use the new safety glasses, safety gloves, and aprons. They can now take responsibility for sound instead of simply plugging a microphone into a camera and hoping for the best.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see that we were adding equipment specifically dedicated to audio. More importantly, they are learning that these aren't just new gadgets—they are tools that allow them to take on actual production roles. Students can work as camera operators, directors, lighting crew, and now dedicated sound recordists. This gives more students a meaningful job on each production while teaching them how important communication and teamwork are on a real set.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to incorporate this equipment into our interviews, news stories, short films, and other video projects throughout the year.
