The materials will be used so that students will be able to experience Biology concepts by growing plants. Majority of my students had no experience in growing anything. Allowing them to grow plants from seeds will help them understand the limiting factors responsible for plant growth, observe changes in matter and transfer of energy. They will get the mass of the seeds and explain what make the biomass increase after 6 weeks. The project will also provide opportunities for students to develop skills in science and engineering practices by designing and conducting their own investigation. They will compare the effects of growing the plants in the compost they made with the commercial potting soil.
