Going back in person, after a year of virtual instruction, will have challenges of its own; and the ones that have been left behind before virtual instruction are even more important to discuss now. One of which is the abandonment and mistreatment of books and libraries --- which affect the academic and social achievement of students. Our school has had an inoperative library without a specific librarian for the past few years and has had books in the collection not being used or circulated properly (or at their full potential. My project to reinvigorate the library requires book protective materials and decorations so that the books will (1) have better usage and longevity, (2) teach students the importance of treating the books with care, and (3) help students understand that libraries are gateways to information and knowledge about themselves, their interests, and the world. We recently obtained 700 new books that are cultural and topic diverse. With your help, we can put all of our books in students’ hands and help them get to, through, and beyond the college of their dreams!
