I wanted to write and say **THANK YOU SO MUCH** for giving our class something so amazing. None of us had ever used a 3D printer before, and now we get to use one almost every week!\r\n\r\nWhen our teacher told us we were getting a FlashForge 3D printer, we were so excited, but we didn't really know what to expect. We had seen pictures of 3D printed things like toys or parts of robots, but we never imagined we'd get to actually *make* them ourselves. When the box came and we watched it being unpacked, it felt like Christmas in the middle of the school year.\r\n\r\nThe first time we saw the printer moving and building something layer by layer, we all just stood there watching it. It was like magic! It made a little cube, and even though it was small, it was the coolest thing we had ever seen. I got to design something on the computer and watch it come to life in real life—something I imagined actually turned into something I could hold in my hand. I can't explain how awesome that feels!\r\n\r\nSince then, we've used the printer in science, math, and even art. I made a name tag for my desk and designed a keychain for my mom. Some of my friends created pieces for our class marble run, and another student made a 3D model of a pyramid for our social studies project. It's like the printer brings our ideas to life, one layer at a time.\r\n\r\nUsing the 3D printer has taught me more than I thought it would. I learned how to use Tinkercad to build designs, how to measure correctly so things print right, and how to fix mistakes when they happen. I used to get frustrated when things didn't work the first time, but now I'm learning that trying again is part of creating. I feel like an inventor or an engineer.\r\n\r\nHaving this printer in our classroom makes me feel like I'm already preparing for my future. Before, I thought inventing was something only adults did. Now, I feel like maybe I could be someone who builds new things when I grow up. Maybe I'll be an engineer or someone who uses 3D printing to help people, like making prosthetic hands or tools.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our class learn in such a fun, creative way. You probably don't even know how much you've changed our classroom and made it more exciting. Every time I walk into STEM class now, I can't wait to see what we'll create next.","fullyFundedDate":1715182767492,"projectUrl":"project/3d-dreams-on-the-xy-and-z-axis/8358858/","projectTitle":"3D Dreams on the XY and Z Axis","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5654504_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533847340948","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5654504"},{"teacherId":5654504,"projectId":8319800,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire classroom and school community, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous support in funding our FlashForge 3D printer through DonorsChoose. Because of your kindness, our elementary STEM classroom now has access to cutting-edge technology that inspires creativity, deepens understanding of STEM principles, and empowers students to become problem-solvers and inventors.\r\n\r\nWhen the 3D printer first arrived, there was an immediate buzz of excitement. Students eagerly gathered around to unbox the equipment, curious and enthusiastic about the endless possibilities it could bring. Since then, this one device has transformed our classroom into a dynamic makerspace where imagination meets real-world application.\r\n\r\nThe FlashForge printer has opened doors for students to learn about design thinking, engineering, and innovation in ways that are both engaging and age-appropriate. We began by introducing the basics of 3D printing—learning how digital models are turned into physical objects—and then challenged students to begin designing their own projects using simple CAD software. From the start, students embraced the challenge, learning to brainstorm, test, and iterate as part of their creative process.\r\n\r\nAlready, students have printed keychains, personalized nameplates, geometric shapes for math lessons, and components for science experiments, such as custom wheels for engineering challenges and connectors for simple machines. We've used the printer in lessons about force and motion, symmetry, measurement, and sustainability—students have even begun to think about how 3D printing can be used to solve real-world problems, such as creating prototypes for accessible tools or designing recycled materials.\r\n\r\nThe most powerful impact of the 3D printer has been on student engagement. Every day, students who may have once hesitated to speak up in class or who struggled with traditional assessments now shine with confidence. They feel empowered by the opportunity to make something tangible with their own designs. It has encouraged collaboration, perseverance, and critical thinking in ways that are difficult to replicate with traditional classroom tools.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, this technology has helped foster career awareness and interest in fields like engineering, architecture, design, and robotics. Students are beginning to see themselves as future creators and innovators, building a foundation of 21st-century skills that will benefit them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the potential of young learners and for investing in tools that bring STEM education to life. Your support has made an immediate and lasting impact. This 3D printer is more than just a machine—it's a bridge to creativity, innovation, and future opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1713663127967,"projectUrl":"project/technology-exposures-to-engage-creativit/8319800/","projectTitle":"Technology Exposures to engage Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5654504_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533847340948","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5654504"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42868","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":459,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":54.2,"schoolId":42868,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Doris French Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Doris French Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/doris-french-elementary-school/42868"}
