My resource classroom serves students with different learning needs, so having a variety of materials allows me to provide support in ways that work best for each student. The books have been especially helpful during reading activities and small groups. We use them to practice listening, answering comprehension questions, learning new vocabulary, and making connections to what we are learning in class. The seasonal books have also helped make our lessons more exciting and give students something fun to look forward to.\r\n\r\nThe classroom organization supplies have also made a big difference. The storage bins and mesh zipper bags help keep student materials, learning activities, and small-group supplies organized and easy to find. This allows us to spend more time learning instead of looking for materials. The dry-erase board and erasers are used during reading, writing, and math lessons. Students enjoy being able to practice skills on the board, erase their work, and try again. This gives them a chance to make mistakes without feeling discouraged and encourages them to keep trying.\r\n\r\nThe sensory toys and other calming materials have helped create a more comfortable classroom environment. Some of my students need a short break or sensory activity before they are ready to return to learning. Having these materials available gives students appropriate choices and helps them learn ways to manage themselves while still being part of the classroom. The rug and curtains have also helped make our resource room feel more welcoming and comfortable. My goal is for students to walk into the room and know that it is a safe place where they can learn, ask for help, and be themselves.\r\n\r\nThe stickers, snacks, and other reward items have been a great way to recognize student effort. My students get excited when they earn a sticker or another small reward for completing a task, trying something difficult, following directions, or showing positive behavior. These small rewards may seem simple, but they can make a big difference for a student who needs extra encouragement. Seeing their faces light up when they receive something for their hard work is one of my favorite parts of teaching.\r\n\r\nThe cleaning supplies, tissues, and hand sanitizer are also important because they help us keep our classroom clean and ready for learning. Moving forward, I will continue using these resources during reading, writing, math, social-emotional learning, and small-group instruction. My next goal is to help students become more independent by teaching them how to use classroom materials, choose appropriate learning tools, organize their belongings, and take pride in their classroom.
