Students started asking, \"Can we play this in group today?\" and \"Are we doing the feelings game next?\" What surprised me most was how quickly the games lowered barriers. Students who are sometimes hesitant to engage in traditional counseling activities were laughing, participating, and connecting. In one small group, a cooperative game led to an unexpected discussion about handling frustration, communicating under stress, and supporting others when things do not go as planned. What began as play turned into a real conversation about coping skills and relationships. Moments like that have shown students that counseling can be a place for both support and connection.\r\n\r\nThese resources have become part of individual counseling, group sessions, and drop-in wellness spaces where students are practicing communication, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and trust-building in real time. One of my favorite moments has been watching students encourage each other during gameplay, problem-solve together, and reflect afterward on how those same skills apply to friendships, classrooms, and life outside of school. For some students, these games have also become a healthy outlet for stress relief during difficult days. The game library has helped create a counseling space students want to return to, and that increased sense of belonging is a powerful outcome. Play-based and game-supported learning is also supported as a way to foster social-emotional growth and engagement, which we are seeing firsthand.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these resources in SEL lessons, counseling groups, and after-school spaces while we connect specific games to skills like empathy, decision-making, and healthy communication. We are expanding from simply \"playing the games\" to helping students reflect on what they learned through the experience and apply those skills in everyday situations. Because of your support, this is not just a set of games—it is a lasting counseling resource that is helping students build relationships, manage stress, and feel more connected at school. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768506770196,"projectUrl":"project/play-to-connect-games-for-student-welln/10012596/","projectTitle":"Play to Connect: Games for Student Wellness","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lujan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9354610"},{"teacherId":8156593,"projectId":10020116,"letterContent":"Students were thrilled to explore the materials, and after learning about volcanoes, they got to create their own! This hands-on project helped them understand how volcanoes erupt while having fun with exciting chemical reactions.\r\nMagnets also played a big part in our activities. After discussing magnetic fields, we used magnets and iron filings to observe these invisible forces in action. The students loved seeing how the magnetic field revealed itself through a real, manipulable model they could build and explore. This engaging experience brought science to life and sparked their curiosity.","fullyFundedDate":1768600856001,"projectUrl":"project/supply-the-classroom/10020116/","projectTitle":"Supply the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bachmeier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8156593"},{"teacherId":8155850,"projectId":10004641,"letterContent":"Colorful stools, soft light covers, and LED lights transformed the resource room into a space that feels welcoming rather than clinical. Each day, I use the laptop to display our English agenda, which helps students clearly understand expectations, stay organized, and transition smoothly between activities. For my students with special needs, this consistent visual structure is especially important; it reduces confusion, increases independence, and allows them to focus more on learning. In addition, the laptop allows my students to complete Pathful Interest Surveys, which guide them in exploring career interests and planning for life after graduation. This technology is helping students take ownership of their learning while also building critical self-awareness and future readiness skills.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most about this new technology is the opportunity to connect their school experience to their personal goals and interests. The Pathful surveys feel relevant and engaging because they allow students to explore real-world career options that align with who they are. Many of my students are more motivated when they see how their education connects to their future, and this tool makes that connection clear and meaningful. Having access to a dedicated classroom laptop also makes the experience feel special and purposeful, increasing student engagement during both instruction and transition focused activities.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students have especially benefited from and connected with this technology. Students who typically struggle with engagement or have difficulty expressing their interests have shown increased participation when using the laptop. The interactive nature of the surveys allows them to explore ideas at their own pace, which builds confidence and encourages more thoughtful responses. I have seen students who were previously unsure about their future begin to identify career paths and take pride in their goals. It is with sincerity that I write this letter on behalf of our music community. Thank you for supporting our music program. Your contributions have played a crucial role in fostering the opportunity for these students to unleash their musical talents and to create lasting experiences for them.\r\n\r\nWith your donation, I was able to purchase an Ibanez Electric Guitar with additional Ernie Ball guitar and bass strings. The goal of this project was to rejuvenate our existing guitar and bass string inventory and teach our young musicians how to effectively and efficiently change strings. We were able to accomplish this goal by having our guitar instructors provide short workshops on the importance of changing strings regularly and how to actually change the strings. Many of our students had never learned this skill although they've been playing guitar or bass for an extended period of time. This is one small step in a process that we will continue with consistency over time.\r\n\r\nIn addition to our guitar and strings purchase, we used some of the funding to purchase a high quality Vic Firth practice drum pad. We have some drum pads but they've been getting worn through the years. Our drum students use these pads on a daily basis to practice their rudiments without making too much noise. We also purchased two quality microphone boom stands to replace a couple microphone stands that have lost their adjustment threading. This was a need that we've had for many months now.\r\n\r\nThe next steps in our journey as a contemporary music school is to fundraise enough money to replace a large portion of our guitar and bass amplifiers, keyboards and synthesizers, and drum sets.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you to all of the donors that made the funding of this project possible. Your generosity made it possible for our music students to expand their knowledge in guitar string maintenance, drum rudiment practice, and singing performance.","fullyFundedDate":1768177570345,"projectUrl":"project/rock-rock-rock-rockrock-n-roll-hig/9993025/","projectTitle":"Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock...Rock N Roll High School!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Caballero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8155830"},{"teacherId":8155838,"projectId":10012484,"letterContent":"The donated items have been beyond useful and helpful to my students.
