These materials have already made a significant impact on both my students and the projects we're working on.\r\nOne of the first ways we've used the drafting tools is during the design phase of a production. The students were tasked with creating the set design for a scene in The Mousetrap. Using the drafting tools, they were able to create scaled drawings, draft floor plans, and develop intricate set details that directly reflected the vision we had discussed in class. This project brought their theoretical understanding of design into practical use, helping them visualize and translate their ideas into real-world plans.\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, there was a wave of excitement and awe. Many of them had never used professional-grade drafting tools before, and the chance to work with these resources instantly elevated their sense of pride and ownership in their work. They couldn't wait to dive in and learn how to properly use each tool, from the scale rulers to the protractors. It was a moment of \"wow\" for them—realizing that they were working with the same equipment as professional set designers. They felt empowered to step into those roles themselves.\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for my students is to begin building a model set from their drafts. They're going to use their plans to construct the set for The Mousetrap, transforming their 2D designs into 3D reality. This hands-on experience is a pivotal moment in their journey as theatre artists, as they'll not only learn how to build the set but also deepen their understanding of how design choices affect the overall production.\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for helping bring the world of theatre design to life in my classroom. Your contribution is giving my students the tools they need to explore their creativity and bring their visions to life.","fullyFundedDate":1699167505195,"projectUrl":"project/theatre-tech-scale-drafting/7991315/","projectTitle":"Theatre Tech Scale Drafting","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Moray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9349857"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75242","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2797,"numTeachers":119,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"23.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":41.4,"schoolId":75242,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Canyon Springs High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Canyon Springs High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/canyon-springs-high-school/75242"}
