My students were so excited when the new materials arrived! It makes a huge difference for them to have their own tools to stay organized. In middle school, learning how to keep track of work is a big deal, and these supplies make that much easier for them.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are using these materials every day. My students use them to check their own progress and keep their assignments in order. One memorable classroom moment was during a hands on activity where students completed simple tasks and obstacle challenges while wearing the goggles to safely simulate impairment. This experience helped students better understand how slowed reaction time, altered vision, and poor coordination can affect decision making. The lesson sparked thoughtful discussions and gave students a meaningful, real world connection to an important safety topic.\r\n\r\nMy students were immediately curious and excited when they saw the materials. They were eager to participate and ask questions about how the goggles worked. What stood out most was how engaged they became once they experienced the activity themselves. The hands on learning opportunity made the lesson feel real and relevant, and students were genuinely surprised by how challenging simple tasks became while wearing the goggles.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue building on these lessons through activities centered on health, safety, and responsible decision-making. We plan to use the goggles during additional scenarios and reflection activities to help students connect what they experienced to real life choices. These resources allow students to move beyond reading or discussion and engage in meaningful, hands on learning that leaves a lasting impact. Thanks to your generosity, students are gaining experiences that encourage critical thinking and responsible decision making in a memorable way.","fullyFundedDate":1768534379103,"projectUrl":"project/impaired-judgement/10018157/","projectTitle":"Impaired Judgement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Payton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8139674_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699300310527","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8139674"},{"teacherId":10266805,"projectId":10033639,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom with essential supplies and treats for my students. Your generosity meant more than I can fully express. As a 6th and 7th grade English teacher, I work every day to create a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn, and your donation helped make that possible. When my students saw the new materials and special treats, they were genuinely excited. Their faces lit up, and several of them kept saying, \"This is for us?\" It was such a sweet reminder that even small acts of kindness can make students feel seen and valued.\r\nWe have already been using these resources during our daily reading and writing activities, and they have made a real difference. My students are able to come to class prepared, stay focused on their work, and participate more confidently when they have what they need in front of them. One of my favorite moments was watching students settle into a writing activity with enthusiasm instead of frustration because everything was ready and accessible. In an English classroom, that matters so much because it allows us to spend less time worrying about supplies and more time discussing literature, building vocabulary, and growing as readers and writers.\r\nBecause of your kindness, my students are able to continue working on the skills that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom. We are using these materials to support current lessons in reading comprehension, writing responses, and class discussions, and I know they will continue to help us throughout the year. More than anything, your donation reminded my students that there are people who care about their education and believe in them. One moment that stands out was when a student who was feeling overwhelmed asked to use the space and was able to reset, reflect, and return to class ready to learn. We have also incorporated The Hawks Nest into small group support and check-ins, allowing students to practice self-regulation strategies and build stronger connections with staff. It has created a safe, structured environment where students can take a break while still staying supported and accountable.\r\n\r\nWhen students were first introduced to The Hawks Nest, their reaction was immediate excitement and curiosity. Many students were eager to see the space and understand how it worked. More importantly, they recognized it as a place designed specifically to support them. Students have shared that it feels calming and welcoming, and they appreciate having a space where they can regroup without feeling singled out or removed from the learning environment.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue integrating The Hawks Nest into our daily practices by using it as part of a proactive approach to behavior and emotional regulation. Our next steps include teaching students specific strategies they can use while in the space, such as goal setting, reflection, and coping skills. We also plan to track usage and student outcomes to better understand its impact and continue improving how we support our students. Ultimately, The Hawks Nest is helping us create a more responsive, supportive school environment where students feel safe, understood, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768755614060,"projectUrl":"project/hope-4-hawks-the-nest/9919121/","projectTitle":"Hope 4 Hawks - \"The Nest\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sydney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9411092"},{"teacherId":9363583,"projectId":9997185,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the school supplies, headphones, and \"bouncy chairs\".
