These interactive composition books will promote the Nevada Academic Content Standards and fulfill a COVID-related learning need in my class by providing all students with a "one-stop shop" to keep all of their English resources in. The specific standards these notebooks assist in addressing are: ELA RL.8.1, RL.8.2, RL.8.4, RI.8.1, RI.8.2, RI.8.4, W.8.1, W.8.2, W.8.3, L. 8.4, L.8.5, L.8.6. Basically, these composition books will hold lists of vocabulary words, writing tips, writing strategies, decoding strategies, textual analysis strategies and more! Individuals from the NV Department of Education interviewed our students before the COVID shut down and asked students what they liked and what they found useful in their English class, and several students showed the adults their English Interactive Notebooks. They described how the notebooks were an excellent resource for using in their writing. I even had three 12th-grade high school seniors visit me a few weeks ago, and they even mentioned their English notebooks.
