Your kindness made an immediate and meaningful impact on my first-year class of 4th graders.\r\n\r\nThe letter magnets have been a powerful hands-on tool for strengthening spelling and word-building skills, especially for students who benefit from tactile learning. The social-emotional read-aloud books—such as My Mouth Is a Volcano and Just Now, I Feel Angry—have become favorites during our community circles and ELA block. These stories helped my students learn how to name their feelings, communicate respectfully, and problem-solve during challenging moments.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students feel supported, heard, and empowered. By sharing the SEL materials, we were able to support students across multiple classrooms and grade levels (4th and 5th), reaching far more students than anticipated. This collaboration ensured that students received consistent language, strategies, and expectations around emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive behavior throughout the school day. \r\n\r\nStudents benefited from repeated exposure to the same SEL tools in both classroom and counseling settings, which strengthened their understanding and ability to apply these strategies independently. The counselor was able to use the materials during small-group interventions and individual support sessions, helping students manage stress, resolve conflict, and build resilience in a supportive environment. This consistency reinforced skill development and increased student confidence in using SEL strategies when challenges arose.\r\n\r\nBy expanding access to these resources, the project contributed to a more unified and supportive school culture. Students were better equipped to manage emotions engage in learning, and interact positively with peers, regardless of where support was provided. Ultimately, sharing these materials amplified the project's impact, allowing more students to develop essential social-emotional skills that support both academic success and overall well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1752846459811,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-4th-graders-with-sel-tools-fo/9243760/","projectTitle":"Empowering 4th Graders with SEL Tools for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McFadden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8656525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677524763507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8656525"},{"teacherId":2964382,"projectId":9265351,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible support in sponsoring a class set of The Wild Robot! It comes at a great time when summer is approaching, and they might start thinking about how to earn money with their time off from school. The ideas were being cranked out when we discussed how to build their savings, the kids becoming more excited as the various ideas were pitched. We also completed some crossword puzzles, word searches, and mystery codes related to financial literacy. \r\n\r\nThe targets for 4th grade include exploring concepts like: careers, how we pay for goods and services (including the definition/difference between those), and the benefits of savings/how to save. There were 10 books chosen for this project, and although we did not read them all, the books we engaged with sparked a fascination with everything from the Federal Reserve to kids who had their own personal savings accounts. These materials had an incredible impact on my students' learning and creativity throughout the year. One of the most memorable experiences was preparing for our readers theater performances. Four of these were showcased during our school's Fall Festival. The students took full ownership, building sets and props for each play using the supplies you provided. From sketching scene designs to crafting props, backdrops, and costumes, the excitement in the room was undeniable. Your gift allowed my students to bring their ideas to life in ways that deepened their engagement with reading, collaboration, and storytelling.\r\nBeyond theater, the supplies enhanced our science lesson and daily learning activities, making projects more interactive and meaningful. Students who typically shy away from speaking or participating found new confidence when given creative roles in our group efforts. As the school year wraps up, these soon-to-be 5th graders are moving forward with not just stronger academic skills, but also a greater sense of confidence, collaboration, and imagination. Thanks to your support, they now see themselves as creators, problem-solvers, and team players- qualities that will serve them well in the next chapter of their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1716345854643,"projectUrl":"project/spark-creativity-empowering-4th-graders/8284767/","projectTitle":"Spark Creativity: Empowering 4th Graders Through Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McFadden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8656525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677524763507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8656525"},{"teacherId":6191940,"projectId":8244381,"letterContent":"First I would like to apologize for how long it has taken to thank you!
