It comes at a great time when summer is approaching, and they might start thinking about how to earn money with their time off from school. The ideas were being cranked out when we discussed how to build their savings, the kids becoming more excited as the various ideas were pitched. We also completed some crossword puzzles, word searches, and mystery codes related to financial literacy. \r\n\r\nThe targets for 4th grade include exploring concepts like: careers, how we pay for goods and services (including the definition/difference between those), and the benefits of savings/how to save. There were 10 books chosen for this project, and although we did not read them all, the books we engaged with sparked a fascination with everything from the Federal Reserve to kids who had their own personal savings accounts. However, in the last few days of the school year, I hope to squeeze in just a few more read-alouds. \r\n\r\nMy 4th graders are thankful for a change of pace and fun books!","fullyFundedDate":1719256929845,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-in-financial-literacy/8447928/","projectTitle":"Engaging in Financial Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6191940_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709708636598","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6191940"},{"teacherId":8656525,"projectId":8284767,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of art and craft supplies to my 4th grade classroom. These materials had an incredible impact on my students' learning and creativity throughout the year. One of the most memorable experiences was preparing for our readers theater performances. Four of these were showcased during our school's Fall Festival. The students took full ownership, building sets and props for each play using the supplies you provided. From sketching scene designs to crafting props, backdrops, and costumes, the excitement in the room was undeniable. Your gift allowed my students to bring their ideas to life in ways that deepened their engagement with reading, collaboration, and storytelling.\r\nBeyond theater, the supplies enhanced our science lesson and daily learning activities, making projects more interactive and meaningful. Students who typically shy away from speaking or participating found new confidence when given creative roles in our group efforts. As the school year wraps up, these soon-to-be 5th graders are moving forward with not just stronger academic skills, but also a greater sense of confidence, collaboration, and imagination. Thanks to your support, they now see themselves as creators, problem-solvers, and team players- qualities that will serve them well in the next chapter of their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1716345854643,"projectUrl":"project/spark-creativity-empowering-4th-graders/8284767/","projectTitle":"Spark Creativity: Empowering 4th Graders Through Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McFadden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8656525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677524763507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8656525"},{"teacherId":8130146,"projectId":8909663,"letterContent":"My students have such variety now because of your generous donation. It is always a blessing to have something interesting and engaging when Social Studies is finally at the forefront! Our targets for 4th grade are Nevada based, including concepts from geography to the Pony Express to our economy. It was fun this year be able to create maps of Nevada from air dry clay, as well as \"dig\" for gems in a mining activity in front of an adorable mineshaft backdrop. They were especially delighted to bring home beautiful small rocks they had carefully chipped away at in their hidden \"dirt.\" Relating how our landscape was utilized and changed over the years to contribute to our economy and history was an eye-opener to these young kiddos. \r\n\r\nAs we close out our school year, I hope to fill some gaps with the remaining materials purchased, thanks to you.
