They come from diverse backgrounds, and many have personal baggage. My students are a mixture of English Language Learners, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, and "regular" learners. My school is in a rural farming community where many families are single parent households. The school district budget is tight, school supplies are limited, and some students cannot afford to have basic paper and pencil.
