As we move forward with our current focus on decoding skills, especially vowel teams and blends, these games will play a huge role in helping students build confidence and progress to more advanced word-building and fluency activities. The markers, paint and watercolor paint helped students to add details and color to their work! They are so excited to share their creations and discuss how adding details through color gets others engaged and connected to their work through shared experiences.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited to see the various ways that we can add color! Markers were placed in every center in the room. Students are able to draw and write with markers. They have learned how to write their names and were more engaged through rainbow writing. They are writing in dramatic play, science, blocks and even in the calm down area. Writing is less stressful during allotted small and whole group activities because they are already learning to hold writing tools and write in clear bold strokes while playing! It is a win-win all around.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to use the water paint. We used them to paint our turkeys for our Turkeys in Disguise activity. They experimented with different colors. All of their turkeys looked different! They then hid them under shapes to save them from Thanksgiving dinner. They loved it.\r\n\r\nWe used the paint to complete various STEAM projects which focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. I included pictures of two products from our animal shelter creations. One group created a shelter for a dog, and the other group created a shelter for a cat. Members painted the boxes together then decorated them.
