By allowing students to see and follow lines, shapes, and forms, these tools support the development of hand control, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills in a way that feels engaging rather than intimidating.\r\n\r\nAs an art teacher in a Baltimore City public school with a fully inclusive classroom, I work with students who have a wide range of learning styles and needs. The light trace boards have been especially impactful for students who benefit from additional visual and tactile support. They allow students to practice dexterity and coordination while still producing work that reflects their own effort and creativity.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these tools empower students to create projects they are proud of with their own hands. It was amazing to see their collective spirits raised and affirmed.\r\n\r\nSeveral classrooms across the school read aloud the message on the shirt, and this sparked a powerful conversation among multilingual scholars and their monolingual peers. Students and teachers reinforced that being multilingual IS a superpower, and that we should lift up and celebrate our multilingual peers.\r\n\r\nNext, we are continuing to build on this sense of pride as students prepare for ACCESS by setting language goals, practicing test strategies, and reflecting on their growth as English learners.
