It has become a tradition in my Spanish classroom to have our \"Dia del Cafe.\" On this day, it is usually the final day of reading the novel \"El Camino del Cafe.\" Students sit in groups and enjoy a cup of hot or iced Colombian coffee, or a cup of tea, a sweet treat, and finish reading the book together and answer some discussion questions. This past year was another successful \"Coffee Day\" thanks to your donations!\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, our reading can vary from one big group read-aloud, to having different students read for different characters, to reading aloud in small groups. I like to mix it up so that the students are always engaged and curious. They enjoy being able to answer questions during stations and brainstorm plays for the various team sports. The boards allow all of the students to collaborate with each other and take ownership in their groups. \r\n\r\nThe dry erase materials has made planning for class so much easier. I don't have to use paper and pencil at stations for each class. The boards allow me to walk around the gym and take pictures of their answers for various assessments. The students can erase them and leave them at the various stations to be used again which saves time and materials. Students loved seeing their digital ideas transformed into embroidered designs on fabric. It was incredibly rewarding to watch them learn new techniques, troubleshoot challenges, and celebrate their finished work.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the embroidery machine, they were fascinated and eager to begin learning how it worked. Many had never seen an embroidery machine in action before. As the machine stitched their designs, students gathered around to watch the process and immediately began brainstorming future projects they wanted to create.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue exploring textile arts through wearable art, decorative pieces, collaborative projects, and personalized designs. They will build skills in design, planning, precision, and problem-solving while learning how art can connect to fashion, culture, entrepreneurship, and career pathways. Many had seen professional custom shirts before but had never been involved in the production process.
