From the moment the boxes arrived, the energy in our room completely shifted. As a reading teacher, there is nothing quite like watching a child's eyes light up when they open a book and see a main character who looks like them, shares their heritage, or has experiences just like their own. For some of my students, this was the very first time they felt truly represented on the pages of a story. Having these books on our shelves has not only validated their identity and background, but it has also created enthusiasm for independent reading.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity goes far beyond just getting kids to read; it has transformed our classroom community. The noise-reducing headphones gave students a way to find the focus they needed during independent work, while our new classroom tools made it easier for me to prepare materials, create new learning opportunities, and respond to what my students needed each day.
