In my experience as an ESL teacher I have found that many parents would like to help their children with their reading at home, but are limited by their own inability to read in English. Having bilingual books sets available for families will help parents to model good reading behaviors and give them the ability to be actively involved in their child's education. Students will be able to check out bilingual book sets and take them home in a Take Home Literacy Bag. Parents will be able to use the Spanish edition of the book to read along with their child and discuss the book with them. I look forward to seeing my students grow in their reading skills and the pride of their parents in having the ability to take an active role in their child's education!
