They almost always choose Pop-Tarts for breakfast, and they enjoy having a wide variety of favorite snacks available in our classroom \"pantry.\"\r\n\r\nBreakfast is always provided at no cost and is never something students have to earn. I believe breakfast is a basic need, and I want to ensure that every student has access to it.\r\n\r\nIn addition to breakfast, I try to keep at least a couple of individual students' favorite snacks available as incentives to motivate them to stay engaged and meet their daily work goals. Students are expected to work for 35 of the 42 minutes in each class period and can earn one morning snack and one afternoon snack.\r\n\r\nThese snacks also provide students with a quick, seven-minute break to enjoy a portion of their snack, recharge, and return to work ready for the next class period.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and for helping provide both an essential breakfast and snacks that encourage and motivate our students. We couldn't put the heat up past 58 in the wintertime or we couldn't pay for the heating bill. It's knowing that they have warm hat and gloves, and warm cozy socks will help me sleep at night.\r\n\r\nRemoving just one of many barriers will ensure better attendance, and prevent them from falling further behind in their curriculum.
