I want to discuss current events with my 6th graders. This novel includes both Donald Trump and the subject of immigration. It looks at the topics through the eyes of three 6th graders. One is helping the immigrants, and two are a set of male and female twins who are the immigrants. This novel approaches the topic from 6th graders and how they see things. It doesn't get too political, but shows varied viewpoints of the topic. I'm mostly apolitical and do not get into my opinions on the topics. I just want to show the situation from both points of view, while having my students learn at the same time.
