My kindergarten students can independently select books they are interested in. The books are sticker coded: the sticker on the bin matches the sticker on the book so that students can sort and put away the books themselves. This frees me up to utilize my time planning lessons, analyzing data to form student groups, run interventions for struggling students, etc. These shelves also save time at the beginning and end of the year when we have to unpack and pack up our classrooms for summer cleaning. I purposely chose shelves with caster wheels so that the shelves can easily be moved for cleaning. I am also excited that these shelves are strong and will benefit future students for many years. We are so excited to use them again next year with a new group of 4th graders. The students this year enjoyed drawing, solving math problems and sharing their work with others. In the past years I had to draw the shapes on the one white board we had in the classroom, that is not really a white board but a cover chalk board. \r\nHowever, this year my white board tables felt like a classroom from the movies or catalogs.
