The variety of books that I have requested come in many different forms - there are some manga books, some nonfiction, and some fiction, but what doesn't come standard is what kind of books attract students. I have discovered that by providing the opportunity for students to have free choice in what they are reading, they are reading more than I come have imagined. Primary classrooms seem to be full of vibrant colors and a variety of seating arrangements that seem to invite students to not only read, but to read and linger as well; I want to create that same atmosphere in my 7th grade classroom. I want my classroom library to make students groan out of frustration when it's time to put away their books because they want to read MORE. I want them to not only focus on reading what's in front of them, but also to anticipate what they want to read next. I want them to view reading a book, not just as something they have to do, but something that they can't wait to do.
