Our ohana live in a community with a very high cost of living, and many actually suffered from flooding in our area this past March. By helping provide daily snacks, you are easing one more responsibility for these families.\r\n\r\nSnack time is about more than eating in our classroom. We had so much success this term that we hope to continue these activities again next year!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, one of our biggest goals is to get children genuinely excited about reading and storytelling—which can be a real challenge in today's world of digital devices and distractions. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to create unforgettable, immersive experiences that kept everyone captivated.\r\n\r\n\r\nHow Your Donations Made an Impact:\r\nThe March Madness Book Tournament: We used the basketballs to promote our \"Sweet 16\" Book Tournament! Each student championed a book, going head-to-head in a bracket until the class voted on their favorite. We also used the basketballs to play active reading comprehension games.\r\n\r\nCelebrating Reading Habits: We used the trophies to reward students who successfully committed to reading for 20 minutes every single day for the entire duration of the tournament.\r\n\r\nGlow-in-the-Dark Readers Theater: We took creativity to a whole new level using the black lights! Students wrote and illustrated their own original stories using special glow materials. You have helped to allow different modes of learning to happen in my classroom. The name of my project was \"Building Sensory and Art.\" Here are a few highlights of my items.\r\n\r\nIn my order, I asked for fidget stools and fidget medicine balls. They have impacted learning for my students that really need it. For a few of my students, the minute they switched from your traditional school chairs to the stool or medicine ball, focusing increased a lot. They were able to complete tasks quicker because they were able to move their bodies as they worked. One student preferred lying on it and doing his work on the floor instead of seated at the desk.\r\n\r\nI also received pencil grips that allowed students who have trouble and hold their pencil in a fist grip, finally find comfort with a tripod grip. I've used many different ones in the past, but this specific ones allows them to grip something with their other two fingers instead of wrapping them around the pencil.\r\n\r\nThe fidget spinners, treasure chest and gummy snacks items have been a great addition to my incentive program. At the end of the day, 3 students are picked who have shown that they are working on being a good citizens in the classroom. This has helped to increase behaviors. The gummy snacks have helped for some students who need an immediate reward after completing small tasks, that in most cases take forever.\r\n\r\nAnd lastly, thank you for purchasing the paint and canvases. I love doing art with my students. We will be using them for our Mother's Day art project and also creative tape painting.\r\n\r\nAgain, I am so grateful for all the love and aloha for my project.
