When the materials first arrived, my students were excited to see the new resources in our classroom. They immediately wanted to explore them and asked how we would be using them during our lessons. Their excitement helped create a positive atmosphere and reminded me how valuable it is for students to have access to materials that make learning more interactive and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the new resources during whole-group instruction, small-group activities, and independent practice. During math lessons, students use the materials to explain their thinking, solve problems, and practice important skills. Instead of simply writing an answer, students have opportunities to discuss their strategies with classmates and show different ways to solve a problem. This has been especially helpful when we work on multiplication, division, and multi-step word problems. I have seen students become more willing to share their thinking, even when they are not completely sure that their answer is correct. The picture books increase their attention and executive functioning. \r\n\r\nMy favorite book is \"Ohana Means Family\" authored by Ilima Loomis, and illustrated by Kenard Pak. The watercolor art is outstnading. It is wonderful and engaging to my Hawaiian children. It has a gentle rhyme that undulate the elements she describes so well. My students are challenged in communicating; however, they can murmer along in sinc. This means they are learning receptive and expressive vocabulary.
