My students and I are so grateful for the new resources and have gotten so much use out of them!\r\n\r\nWhen the students saw the Elementary Dictionaries, they were so excited! Last quarter we learned strategies to determine the meaning of unknown words, such as looking at words around it, looking to the glossary in a text, and even using a dictionary! There was an instance when the word \"royal\" came up in a poem we were reading and students had questions about what that word meant. We turned to the dictionary and found it!\r\n\r\nStudents also couldn't wait to use the automatic soap dispenser as soon as they saw it in our classroom! Now, they get so excited when they get to wash their hands at our classroom sink! What a great way to stay safe and healthy through the cold and flu season! The Clorox wipes have been a necessity, and we've been wiping our desks weekly. I definitely think it's been helping to prevent germs from spreading in our classroom. \r\n\r\nThe laser pointer has been extremely helpful in ensuring my students can follow along with the lesson. It helps with engagement like when we have to do our \"Three Reads\" protocol in Math to read the problem together. \r\n\r\nStudents get so much daily use out of the pencil sharpener. It is so efficient in sharpening their pencils quickly. The fidget toys have been helpful for students who need it to focus. The flower seeds will be used to make packets for the students to end our final unit for ELA. \r\n\r\nWe can't put in to words the impact that your gift has made and continues to make in our classroom. I have explained to them how donors, like you, provide all of these wonderful resources that they get to use. We sent a booklet with letters your way from our class. The goal of this project was to use amplification technology to help students feel comfortable projecting their voices, participating in discussions, and building oral language skills that directly support stronger writing.\r\n\r\nMany of my students use technology at home, but classroom technology serves a very different purpose. In school, tools like microphones and amplifiers help level the playing field for English Learners by making their voices heard and valued. When students can clearly hear themselves and their peers, they gain confidence, engage more willingly in speaking activities, and take greater risks with language.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, I was unable to use the amplifier and microphone as intended due to defects with the equipment. The microphone would not charge consistently, and when it did, it would not hold a charge long enough for classroom use. While my students were excited about the idea of using the microphone—especially those who are typically hesitant to speak—the equipment issues prevented us from fully implementing the project.\r\n\r\nI am currently in the process of working toward a replacement so that my students can still benefit from this type of technology. I remain deeply grateful to our donors for believing in my students and for supporting resources that build confidence, voice, and language development. Once functional equipment is in place, I know it will make a meaningful impact on my English Learners' speaking and writing growth.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and commitment to our students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1759446849676,"projectUrl":"project/amplify-their-confidence-helping-englis/9776179/","projectTitle":"Amplify Their Confidence: Helping English Learners Speak and Write","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Amodo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5944853_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1539848671599","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kimamodo"},{"teacherId":2099276,"projectId":9758148,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to me and my students. The items we received have made my students' more engaged and has made my teaching easier.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited for the various toys we received, they could hardly control themselves! We opened the boxes together when we received them. We spent the first quarter becoming toy experts and to become toy experts, we had to play with toys a lot! One of the toys I already had in my classroom that I introduced for the first time this year was play dress up. I never introduced it before because I didn't have a lot of it. When I did introduce it, I was a little surprised by how excited my students were to play with them, so I knew I needed to get more play dress up items, including more accessories. They especially enjoy playing with the food items.\r\n\r\nTeachers can never have enough wall space, so the mobile whiteboard has been a lifesaver. In our language arts program, we read a lot of stories and create charts for our stories, so prior to getting the mobile whiteboard, it was difficult to do both – read a story using my projector AND creating a chart. By having the mobile whiteboard, I am able to display the story we're reading on the projector and have my chart on the mobile whiteboard. The one I received is also double sided, which is even better. \r\n\r\nThe classroom toys and mobile whiteboard will continue to support my students' learning and my teaching, and for that I am very grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1761710900575,"projectUrl":"project/time-for-toys/9758148/","projectTitle":"Time for Toys!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tagomori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2099276"},{"teacherId":2072364,"projectId":9784540,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations that made it possible for us to have these new materials for our classroom library. Student binders served as their portfolios with all of their work. The students took pride in the work they did and their parents were impressed with how it was presented. I think this has helped with students wanting to produce high quality work, knowing that it would be added to their portfolios to share with their families. \r\n\r\nThe Who Would Win? and Baby-sitters Little Sister books were added to our classroom library. They have been a big hit! The Who Would Win? books are in high demand and don't stay on the shelves for too long. The book presents the information in such an interesting way. Even the girls love it!\r\n\r\nOur STEM centers have become a big hit! With the straw constructing toys, UNO cards, Jenga and Legos, the kids always want to stay in to play with them! This past week, the weather consisted of heavy rain and storms in Hawaii. The students were so excited to stay in for recess to play with the STEM bins. It has been so awesome to see them bond by playing together and working as a team. We've also used this for team bonding activities, like building structures with different materials. \r\n\r\nThe students have also used the rhythm sticks. We haven't used them for music quite yet, but we've been using them during our SEL time. We play a game similar to telephone, where one person starts a beat and the rest has to repeat as we go along the circle. The kids love it!\r\n\r\nI shared with the class how these resources are provided by donors, like you. It's because of your generosity that we get to experience all of these new experiences. I would wait until everyone arrived to school, then we would sit in a circle and unbox the supplies together. \r\n\r\nThus far we have used the acrylic paint, paint brushes and paint trays to create paintings of animals that go along with their animal research projects they completed for Language Arts. We made use of the drying rack and had the paintings dry in a designated space, instead of on our desks and shelves like we normally do. The paintings came out beautiful! Each one vibrant in color and full of so much details!
