In fact, after I put it together, it turns out that NO ONE had seen one before - not even some of the adults!!\r\n\r\nIt was so much fun showing students how to use the carpet sweeper and everybody wants to take turns cleaning the carpets. each day. \r\n\r\nThe carpet sweeper got immediate use as we share the room with others when we're not using it. We are so grateful that we added that to our order to keep our carpets nice; and the bright yellow color of the sweeper is really fun and unique. \r\n\r\nEveryone loves the carpets!!! Their color and size is just perfect for the room and it really brightens up the entire space. Everyone comments on the carpets when they see them for the first time.\r\n\r\nStudents constantly will sit on the floor because the carpets are so inviting... and now we have these cute little \"doughnut yoga ball seats\" that sit on the carpet and they are a fun addition that match the color scheme of the carpets and our Best Buddies logo.\r\n\r\nAll-in-all the carpets and the carpet sweeper are a huge blessing and perfect addition to make our space so special and are appreciated by all.","fullyFundedDate":1764698305216,"projectUrl":"project/freedom-escape-on-a-magic-carpet-ride/9923702/","projectTitle":"Freedom & Escape on a Magic Carpet Ride","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10353365_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763440164560","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10353365"},{"teacherId":10353365,"projectId":9902955,"letterContent":"Aloha and Mahalo for your generosity in fully funding my very first project. \r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have been able to create the most incredible room in our school. A room that I've never seen in any other school. A room and resource that I wish I had when I was in school ~a room that every school should have.\r\n\r\nOur Best Buddies club has it's very own room that is now equipped with tables, chairs, air hockey, an arcade game and so much more.\r\n\r\nThis space is a safe haven for students to drop by during recess and various free periods throughout the week. We also have a Thursday lunch bunch gathering as well. \r\n\r\nSpace is a commodity in a school and so when our room isn't being used for the purpose of students gathering, it's also a meeting spot that is really comfortable for parent teacher meetings, peer meetings, homework help, etc.\r\n\r\nBut that is not all.... We now also distribute food that is donated to us by the food bank so at any time students who have a need may get snacks, juice, cereal, or canned meals without shame or questions asked.\r\n\r\nThe whole premise behind Best Buddies is to pair students with intellectual, emotional, developmental or physical disabilities with those who do not have these special needs, and because of the wonderful, fun & welcoming environment created in large part because of the items we received through your donation, our room/club is a place that everyone wants to be a part of. \r\n\r\nStudents who may have never spoken to each other, or even seen each other, now know each other by name, hang out and play games. Students who are shy and never say a word, are now coming out of their shell and speaking. All this has happened in only 1-3 months; and new students drop by every day. There's so much more than I can say, but I'll let the photos that I am including speak for themselves.\r\n\r\nOnce again, I can never thank you all enough. Everything has developed beyond my wildest imaginings, and I'm sure it's only going to get bigger and better from here.","fullyFundedDate":1763975677595,"projectUrl":"project/making-connections-breaking-down-barrier/9902955/","projectTitle":"Making Connections Breaking Down Barriers One Smile at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10353365_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763440164560","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10353365"},{"teacherId":9348742,"projectId":9655555,"letterContent":"We've made great use of the colored paper, post-it notes, and poster-sized post-it sheets for lessons in English such as identifying the theme, understanding the types of conflict, and writing key points from a novel. Several shared how much they appreciate not only the wide selection of books but also having a quiet place to read, reflect, and relax during the school day.
