I originally sent out an interest survey to invite a few students from each class the opportunity to play chess at recess. The response was so overwhelmingly positive with so many interested in signing up! At recess, we leave out the chess boards and all open spots quickly fill up and remain full the entire recess block. The students were excited to enjoy the snack and take chess stickers with them to keep. The interest even sparked some students to enter in the middle school chess tournament this past weekend. We truly are building confident, resilient students through the game of chess.
